(English translation)

English translation

I fell in love with a monster

You could be a bit more tender with me.
But you were so strikingly handsome
when you spilled out the truth
in my face like a bucket of icy water.
From now on it will be as you asked.
And I feel like I'm lost in a haze.
I can't feel the ground under my feet.
I came close to you,
looked you in the eye
and couldn't see love there.

Me, I could live for you,
just for you.
I could die for you
and come back from the dead.
Just tell me why,
I can't understand.
What kind of force keeps me tied to him?
Sister, I fell in love with a monster.

Shutting our eyes as if blinded by a flash,
we repelled each other as hard as we could1,
and moved away,
without a glance back.
From now on it will be as you asked.

Me, I could live for you,
just for you.
I could die for you
and come back from the dead.
Just tell me why,
I can't understand.
What kind of force keeps me tied to him?
Sister, I fell in love with a monster.

I fell in love with a monster...
Sister, I fell in love with a monster.
I fell in love with a monster...

Me, I could live for you,
just for you.
I could die for you
and come back from the dead.
Just tell me why,
I can't understand.
What kind of force keeps me tied to him?
Sister, I fell in love with a monster.

  • 1. she reuses the word "сила" (force/strength) as if their relationship was based on electromagnetic attraction and repulsion, but the pun was too hard to render in English. Sorry about that.

сила in fn#1 is not the same сила she reuses a few lines below.
It is more like a mental force/power he has which keeps pulling/attracts/draws her to him. The second one is more like physical force; что было сил/со всей силы means 'as hard as you can'.
And 'bounce off' doesn't sound right here for 'оттолкнуться'. This sentence means "We pushed each other away as hard as we could" of course metaphorically Regular smile

"As if shutting the light off our eyes" -- what she says is something like "As if the light was too bright (Like from the bright light), we shut/closed our eyes" Wink smile

Ah ok, that bright light was a bit cumbersome in English. Funny how Russian says things differently sometimes.
Maybe "we repelled each other" to keep this idea of a mysterious electromagnetic force? Wink smile
It's not the same force, but there is an analogy with physics both times, that's why I hesitated between "force" and "strength".
