Chiamami ancora amore (English translation)

English translation

Keep calling me Love

And for the boat that has flown to heaven
while the children were still playing
to whom I would have given the whole sea
just to see them coming here to me

for the poet who can’t sing
for the worker who has lost his job
for the one who is twenty and is dying on his own
in a desert like in a pigsty
and for all the boys and girls
who defend a book, a real book,
looking so nice while shouting out in the squares
because they are killing our thought

for the bastard who always stands in the sun
for the coward who hides his heart
for our memory thrown to the wind
by these masters of sorrow

Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love
Because this damned night
must somehow end
because we’ll fill it from here
with music and words

Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love
In this despairing dream
between silence and thunder
defend this humanity
even if there were only one man left

Keep calling me Love
Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love

Because ideas are like butterflies
and you can’t pull off their wings,
because ideas are like stars
and storms can’t put them out,
because ideas are voices of mothers
which we thought we'd lost
and they are like the smile of God
in this spit of a universe

Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love
Because this damned night
must anyhow end
because we’ll fill it from here
with music and words

Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love
Keep writing the life
between silence and thunder
defend this humanity
that is so true in each man

Keep calling me Love
Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love
Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love

Because this damned night
must somehow end
because we’ll fill it from here
with music and words

Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love
In this despairing dream
between silence and thunder
defend this humanity
even if there were only one man left

Keep calling me Love
Keep calling me Love
Always call me Love
Because we are Love

Thank you Marco
Some suggestions:
ancora > Call me love time after time / time and time again / on and on
dovrà pur finire > must also end
in questo sputo di universo > in this spit of a universe (although I think it's saying "in this spit of the universe")

Thank you Evan.
I'm going to make a spanish version that should sound "Sigue llamándome Amor". What do you think about "Keep calling me Love"?
“dovrà ben finire” is a bit stronger than “dovrà pur finire” (cfr. french “il doit bien finir”)
So: dovrà pur finire > it must also end
dovrà pur finire > it shall even end up (or is it better: it shall also end?)
I‘m sorry, I don’t understand the nuance of meaning between “of a universe” and “of the universe”. Can you help me?

You're welcome keep calling me Love is excellent
Dovrà ben finire, there's no exact translation so I'd say the closest is > must end for good
Shall had an obligatory meaning in old english, now to all but a few people means just will
This spit of a universe means the universe is a spit, this spit of the universe means this corner of the universe

I’ve long thought and decided. I like the translation as it is now. Thanks to all those that gave me suggestions.
