Martín Chacón born August 23, 1930 in Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca , Mexico. He can trace his ancestors back to Juchitán. Chacón is a trilingual speaker of Spanish, Zapotec and English (the latter which he learned in courses he took when he was older). Chacón is one of the very few, if only trilingual speaker whose languages includes English. It was in the 1970's that he met a fellow artist from his hometown, Gabriel López Chiñas; where they collaborated and later released the 1978 LP "Canciones Zapotecas del Istmo", which consisted of poems by one of them and traditional songs of the time.
