Long live love

Versions: #1#2
Absolute love, all or nothing, none or you,
that does not exist anymore
and Brangelina, my parents and your ideals,
they are not around anymore.

Eternal flames went out long ago
the old songs, everything such a long time ago
and you stand here, trying to hope, she comes back.
You too, can't make it anymore.

The love is dead, long live love
We hold it up, long live love
The love is dead, long live love
We don't need it - that would be a lie.

Play me the song of love
without the stereotypes, without those lies,
what is left of it?
We know each other from Tinder, everybody free, as never before, polyamory, what's left of it?
1001 bedtime stories, 1000 princes
Who makes us happy now?
When we find faith, love, hope inside of us, then everything is possible.

The love is dead, long live love
We hold it up, long live love
The love is dead, long live love
We don't need it - that would be a lie.

Absolute love, all or nothing, none or you,
It does not exist anymore.

The love is dead, long live love
We hold it up, long live love
The love is dead, long live love
We don't need it - that would be a lie.

Long live love
Long live love
Long live love
We don't need it - that would be a lie.

I'm not German, but I tried to make this translation to the best of my translation ability. A lot of it is interpretation. I fear my pronoun usage and translation wasn't overwhelmingly good, but I did the best I could.

Any corrections or suggestions are much appreciated.

edit: Some corrections based on corrections from a fluent speaker of German.
edit: More corrections.
edit: Replace "night stories" with "bedtime stories"

Hi, I'm a native German. Your translation is really good - just a few suggestions:

• "das gibt's doch schon lange nicht mehr" should better be translated by "that doesn't exist in a long timeor also "that already doesn't exist no longer". (I don't know if it's proper English, but it's nearer to the German meaning.)

You forgot the line "Du kannst auch schon lang nicht mehr" in Stanza 2: "You too, are unable [=exhausted] since a long time".

Thank you. I don't think the first one you pointed out is proper English, but I tried to get it closer, nevertheless. And, my apologies regarding the second one. I didn't mean to overlook it. I have put what you suggested in, since I can't think of a better translation in English.
Thanks. Regular smile

Oh yes, "not anymore" sounds much better than my stuff! Why didn't I get it? Wink smile

And "Nachtgeschichte" means "Gutenachtgeschichte", so you can use "bedtime stories".

and you stand here, trying to hope, they will come back. -> she comes back
You too, are unable since a long time. -> You too, can't make it anymore
all free as never before -> everybody free, as never before
If we believe, love, find hope in us -> When we find faith, love, hope inside of us

And I would leave out the "the" before love...
