Eda baa (إيه ده بقى) (English translation)

English translation

What is this, now?

What? (What is this?)
What is this, now? (What is this, now?)
What is this, now? What is this? What is this, now? What is this?

Is it reasonable for beauty like this to exist?
Or sweetness in this form?

Oh my fire, my fire.
I'm covering my fire, you think I am?
And it's with this love.

If I only see his (her) silhouette,
I'm taken aback by his (her) charm and softness.
Anybody, tall, short, young, or old would melt because of his (her) beauty and grace.

If I see him, I don't go or come (I stay in my place).
And that's not in my hand (against my will).
Against my will, he stole my mind. What did I have to do with longing before?

What? (What is this?)
What is this, now? (What is this, now?)
What is this, now? What is this? What is this, now? What is this?

X2
What is this? Is this magic or what?
People tell me!
What his (her) story is,
And why his (her) eyes appear everywhere.

And if our eyes meet, I find myself unable to find myself anymore.
And I'm taken aback by his (her) eyelashes.
And if he (she) was absent for seconds, I feel my existence jumble up, and I keep looking for him (her).

If I only see his (her) silhouette,
I'm taken aback by his (her) charm and softness.
Anybody, tall, short, young, or old would melt because of his (her) beauty and grace.

And if I see him, I don't go or come (I stay in my place).
And that's not in my hand (against my will).
Against my will, he stole my mind. What did I have to do with longing before?

So, what? (What is this?)
What is this, now? (What is this, now?)
What is this, now? What is this? What is this, now? What is this?

X2
Oh, my heart, oh my.
With his (her) beauty, I melt, I adore (I'm in love).
But I hide (my love) and say no, no. And when I see him (her) coming, I don't know my night from my day.

He (she) has a bit of naughtiness, that slowly make me melt.
And I'm attached now.
And I see in his (her) eyes a bit of harshness (defiancy).
But also delicacy and beauty. And that's what I like about him (her).

What? (What is this?)
What is this, now? (What is this, now?)
What is this, now? What is this? What is this, now? What is this?

Author's comments:

This song is in Egyptian slang language and has very playful lyrics.
The translation is literal and I couldn't quite convey the playfulness of the song in the English language.

Also, the pronoun (he - howa) in Arabic is used to address either males or females.
While the pronoun (she - hiwa) in Arabic addresses females only.

Arabic

Eda baa (إيه ده بقى)
