Buona sera a tutti , I was translating " La danza " song but I stoped at a word which is " Garzon " I looked for it in the dictionary but I couldn't find it !?
The reason why you didn't find it in the dictionary, it's because of a phenomenon called "apocope" in Italian. It's made by cutting out the last vowel of words ending in N/ L/ R+ vowel, so that "cuore" becomes "cuor" and "garzone" becomes "garzon". This can happen for stylistic reasons (it's commonly used in poems and songs) or for euphony. Concerning the meaning, "garzone" has two main meanings: it can simply mean "boy", but it's quite an ancient way to use the word, otherwise it can mean "male assistant" or "male apprentice".
Hope this helped you.
Since the question is answered, I marked this topic as solved.
It's the first time for me to listen about this phenomenon
