Ne uletay!

Outro:

English translation

Don't fly away!

...
You're somewhere far away...
A cry resounding over the sea...
Where your figure hovers
like a seagull over the waves...
Answer me!
Call me to your side!

...
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away!
Don't leave me hanging between sky and land!
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away, call me to your side!

...
My calling is carried by clouds,
my words whispered by the wind
And, like cranes
at the edge of the world
the sailboats1 will blow their horn2.
...

...
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away!
Don't leave me hanging between sky and land!
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away, call me to your side!

...
Answer me!
Call me to your side!

...
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away!
Don't leave me hanging between sky and land!
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away, call me to your side!

...
Don't fly away!
Don't fly away!
Call me...

  • 1. "boats like a white triangle"
  • 2. To be honest the metaphor sounds rather odd to me, but I can't think of another meaning for this sentence. It's not clear whether the boats or the cranes stand at the edge of the world, but the boats are definetly blowing their horns and look like a flock of cranes.

Do you see any mistake in my translation, while you're at it?
I'm not quite sure I got the bit about the cranes flying. I don't really know where the sentence begins or what its subject is Regular smile

Ships blow their horns, so ‘do’ the cranes, when they form the that white triangle thingy we call “клин” - журавли летят клином
Both do it when they leave

I believe it has the same meaning in English - bridges burned, there’s no way back

На краешке земли - can also be translated as “at the end of the Earth”, on the other hand, край - is also something risky (ходить по краю/быть на краю)

To be honest, I think the phrase is about ships leaving the port along with her love (and she begs him not to fly away)
