Se stiamo insieme (English translation)

English translation

If We're Together

But how many affairs
have I lived in my life
and how many planned who knows
day-dreaming
stories of rivers,
of vast prairies without limits
stories of deserts
and how many times have I seen
from the bow of a boat
between splashes and wind
the immensity of the sea
spreading out within
and like a warm carress
illuminating my heart
And then the white snow,
the trees, the firs,
the hug of silence
overwhelming all my senses
you feel alone and alive
among great mountains
and vast immense spaces
And then returning here
to resume the life
of the days equal to the days
discussing with you
cutting me off with the ice
of everyday winters
no, I can't accept it.
It's not the life that I would have ever wanted
to desire to live
it's not that dream
that we dreamt together
it brings tears
and yet I don't belive this is
the only way for us
If we're together
there has to be a because
and I'd like to rediscover it tonight
If we're together
some thing is there
that will bring us together tonight
I miss you, you know
I miss you, you know
And then coming back here
to resume the life
that seems without life
discussing with you and wear out so much
the few eternal moments
no, I can't accept it
that life is to stay here
to waste away in fruitless arguments
playing with you
to kill the day
then at night shut yourself in
and yet, I don't believe this is
the only way for us.
If we're together
there has to be a because
and I'd like to rediscover it tonight
If we're together
some thing is there
that will bring us together tonight
I miss you, you know
I miss you, you know

che vita è restare qui
a logorarmi in discussioni sterili
giocar con te
a farsi male il giorno
di notte poi rinchiudersi

Should be...

What kind of life is to stay here
wearing myself out in sterile discussions,
playing with you,
hurting each other in the daytime,
then at nighttime shutting ourselves in.

Also the "affairs" should be "stories" ...like the ones given as examples in the rest of the 1st verse.
